Actually, Simoncelli have a great opportunity to be the leader in the qualifying session on Saturday (30/4/11). Unfortunately, he fell during the session about three minutes remaining, when he was trying to beat the record time of Jorge Lorenzo, who eventually occupied the pole. As a result, his efforts to bring the Gresini Honda won the first pole since Sete Gibernau to do it in the 2005 season in Valencia should be dashed.

Nevertheless, Simoncelli, who continued to dominate qualifying to beat Lorenzo in the last five minutes, will start from second position. This is what makes spiky-haired rider is very optimistic about his chances on the podium.

"I hope so, because during practice here, I was so quick. And to the rhythm (race), my quick-and I am very confident for tomorrow," he said.

"But the important thing is to have a good rhythm for the race tomorrow and I was on the right track, so I'm happy."

When the race in Jerez, Spain, earlier this month, Simoncelli also briefly appeared surprising because he can lead the way race. Unfortunately, accidents diminish his dream to become champion because he finally could not continue the race.
