Inter Milan today confirmed the assignment of Claudio Ranieri. Claudio Ranieri is Inter Milan new coach on a deal till June 2013.

A argument from the club read: "Claudio Ranieri is Inter Milan new coach. Claudio Ranieri has signed a agreement with Inter Milan until 30 June 2013. All of Inter team has the delight of welcoming Claudio Ranieri and his staff. Claudio Ranieri will lead today's training session and will be unveiled tomorrow to the press."

Former Valencia, Chelsea, Juventus and Roma coach Claudio Ranieri succeeds Gian Piero Gasperini, who was fired yesterday after a short, unsuccessful spell in charge. Claudio Ranieri's 1st game will be on Saturday at Bologna.

Inter fired Gian Piero Gasperini after Tuesday's stunning 3-1 defeat at Novara.

Massimo Moratti has stated he trusts Ranieri will come with the right approach. "He's the best option," Moratti said. "I believe he has the common sense needed to revitalise the team, both as persons and as a unit.

"There's sorrow with regard to Gian Piero Gasperini, he was unlucky in his efforts. Now I'm pleased with this selection because I believe  Claudio Ranieri has the necessary characters to do well. He has above all great experience, which at this moment is what we need."
