Gunner’s season took some other nosedive as they led twice but hit two second-half own goals and were crushed 4-3 by Blackburn at Ewood Park.
Rovers, who had brought in just one point from their opening 4 English Premier League fixtures, proved their worth in the 2nd half and took vantage of the visitors’ troubled defence to complete what at half-time seemed to be an impossible comeback. The result took them above their opponents and will no doubt add to the pressure currently surrounding Wenger and the London club itself.
Arsenal were boosted by the return of Aaron Ramsey from injury, while left-back Andre Santos made his 1st start for the club. Alexandre Song and Gervinho were also named in the starting XI after each completed a three-game EPL suspension. For their part, Blackburn handed a debut to summer signing Yakubu as Steve Kean’s side set out looking for their 1st victory in the league this season.
