About 14,000 fans are willing to face the cold weather on Friday (23/12) evening to gather in Sendai Stadium in the framework of a charity event titled, Christmas Soccer 2011, which organized the Association of Japanese footballer (JFPA).
The fans, who all come from the Tohoku region, affected by natural disasters March 11, received free tickets from JFPA. They watched the legendary Team Samurai Blue as Masashi "Gon" Nakayama, Antlers Kashiwa veteran Mitsuo Ogasawara, Tomoaki Makino and several other players who helped entertain.
Although scored quickly through the player Gainare Tottori, Yasuhiro Okuyama, Tohoku Dreams team selection forced the team lost to Japan Stars, which contains the Japanese players who played in European clubs.
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Shinji Kagawa, Atsuto Uchida and Schalke defender is not allowed to perform by doctors in trouble with the team because of injury. But they also speak to the fans in the first half and even had time to act on last-minute act as linesman.
"I'm glad we could participate in this match," said Kagawa wearing Santa Claus costumes on this show. "I hope we can continue (hold a charity match) on a regular basis.
"I think this is the first time a judge takes a corner kick line," said Uchida when discussing the surprise kick to the Nakayama Kagawa. "When the ball reaches Gon (Nakayama), I think all will be surprised to ignore it."
