Director of Palmeiras Cesar Sampaio confirmed legendary goalkeeper, Marcos decided would retire in the near future. Sampaio said the 38-year-old goalkeeper was coming to speak to the media about the decision to hang the gloves.
"We had a meeting with Marcos and he made an official statement will hang up his gloves. He said she had thought hard about it during the holidays, he talking with his family and his body also signaled it was time to quit," said Sampaio told Gazeta Esportiva.
Fenerbahce midfielder and former teammate in the Palmeiras, Alex also gave appreciation after hearing the news. He thanked Marcos for his role in the victory in the Copa Libertadores Palmeiras in 1999.

Marcos himself one of the loyal players through a career with one club, namely Pameiras. During 19 years at Palmeiras, he won 13 titles, and also won the gold medal at the 2002 World Cup and 1999 Copa America with Brazil national team.
