The 2012 Australian Open started a few days ago and the Singles tournaments have completed their first Round matches. Almost all big guns won, without too many problems, their tickets for the next round. However, you need to start watching Live Australian Open as soon as possible, because the main seeds will start clashing against each other on Friday.
Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer had no problems in winning straight set matches against considerably weaker opponents. Andy Murray had to play 4 sets against American, Ryan Harrison after dropping the first set of their match. No a really good start at AO 2012 for the 2010 and 2011 Finalist, isn't it?
Bernard Tomic offered a great win for Australia as he defeated former semifinalist, Fernando Verdasco, in the opening day at the Rod Laver Arena. As a conclusion no major upset was recorded in the Men's Singles tournament.
However, as usual the Women's Singles schedule offered at least one shocking result. The winner of the last Grand Slam event, 2011 US Open, and huge local favorite, Samantha Stosur, lost her opening Round match against unseeded Romanian player, Sorana Cirstea, disappointing the Australian fans at the Rod Laver Arena. Stosur loss was even more surprising as it come in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3, and she seemed to have no chance against the young Cirstea.
Caroline Wozniacki, Vera Zvonareva, Kim Clijsters, Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams all sailed through their 1st Round matches. We're curios to see what other surprises Round 2 brings. Stay tuned as we will keep you updated!"
