Coach Vicente Del Bosque admitted, he had no choice but to drop the name of Fernando Torres of Spain squad for friendly against Venezuela this weekend. Del Bosque looks bad rate 27-year-old player because of just scoring four goals in all competitions this season.
Many names are rated Spanish players can fill the position of the attacker, such as, Fernando Llorente, Iker Muniain, Alvaro Negredo, Roberto Soldado, and Juan Mata. With a heavy heart, Torres have dropped from the squad for a friendly match later. In fact, Torres has backed Chelsea to regain the form of the game for Euro 2012.
"He is a player that we value and I am very sad to strike his name from the Spanish national team, but I want to behave fairly. Appearance (Torres) was recently very inconsistent," said Del Bosque as reported by ESPN Star.
"It becomes a problem when the attacker does not return to the form of the game, it makes it difficult for them. We see that there is a problem for him, but there are a lot of time and opportunity for Torres to find his game before Euro 2012 started," he said later.
61-year-old coach also added that Torres has struggled in Chelsea. Bosque hope that in the next four months he can score goals and he can make a decision about his position on the team.
Spain has one of the favorites to win the European Cup in 2012. However, Del Bosque did not want to look down on other countries, like Britain and France which is a strong country.
"Teams like England and France is a powerful country that should win. They have the pressure that comes from countries that have a history of football. We all know that England has a great potential. This is manifested by their club's success and talent of each player . England has one of the strongest leagues in the world and has also the world's best players, "said Del Bosque.
