Favorite champion in AFF Suzuki Cup 2012, Thailand, opened their action in this competition with a positive result. Facing the Philippines, 'White Elephant' wins with a thin score 2-1.

at Rajamangala National Stadium on Saturday (24/11/2012) night local
time, Thailand lead two-goal in the first half through Jakkapan Pornsai
and Anucha Kitpongsri. In the second half the Philippines scored a consolation goal through Paul Mulders.
With this result Thailand leads Group A AFF Cup 2012, followed by Myanmar and Vietnam, who drew a few hours earlier. Meanwhile the Philippines at the bottom

Since the game starts there is no dangerous opportunities created by both teams. Even so Thailand more control the game with a short pass.
In 25 minute Theerasil Dangda had a golden opportunity when he received the ball in the penalty box and freely without escort. But Dangda shoot still hit the Philippines player.
Thailand dominance finally become goal on 39 minutes when an attack on the right wing which was built by Theerathon Bunmathan ends flat crossing, Pornsai easily send the ball into the net of Eduardo Sacapano.Less than a minute later Thailand enlarge the score 2-0. Starting 1-2 in the midfield partnership, Kitpongsri got the ball from Dangda and after outwit the opponent goalkeeper, he gave a hard kick into the net of Philippines.
In the second half, Thailand trying to add a goal, while Philippines trying strengthening the defense.The host got a chance to increase the advantage in minute 56 through Kitpongsri but his shot from close range was blocked Sacapano.
In 75 minutes Philippines cut score to 1-2 through Mulders goals continued Patrick Reichelt pass from the right side. Mulders shot near the goal not being able to face Thamsatchanan.
Until the game ended, 2-1 score persisted for Thailand excellence. Guest coach, Michael Weiss, was sent off at 10 minutes before the game was over because he threw the ball to the Thailand player who was dropped.
