Former GP2 driver, Giedo van der Garde eventually rose to the level of F1 after a call to join the Caterham team on Saturday (02/02/2013) in Amsterdam. Dutch rider who is also a rider on the team last season to join French racer Charles Pic.
"I am ready to rise to the level of F1. Naturally, a good rider will ride GP2 to F1," said Giedo van der Garde, who became a rival Indonesia rider Rio Haryanto last season.
Van der Garde became the second Dutch rider who joined the F1, after Christijan Albers in 2007. Earlier, another GP2 team driver, Esteban Gutierrez has joined the Sauber F1 team. Gutierrez joined Nico Hulkenberg, the former Force India driver, to replace two other Sauber driver Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi.
