Australia Wants Duel Thorpe-Phelps

Australia hopes the United States swimmer Michael Phelps, are interested in a duel with Ian Thorpe before the 2012 London Olympics.

Thorpe, regarded as Australia's greatest swimmer, decided to return to the world of swimming and is now practicing in Switzerland. Thorpe was determined to achieve peak performance in the London Olympics.

Phelps has refused an invitation to participate in the race series in Sydney last January. However, the authorities hope Phelps Swimming Australia will come next year to deal with Thorpe.

"Last year we had sent a invitation to Phelps, but failed. meeting of the two is still too early, but interesting to talk about," said Swimming Australia chief executive, Kevin Neil.

Thorpe never doubted the ability of Phelps to break the record of legendary U.S. swimmer Mark Spitz, with seven Olympic gold, ahead of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. In fact, Phelps actually encouraged by this speech and be able to win eight gold medals.
