Catalunya MotoGP Held Until 2016

Circuit de Catalunya has reached an agreement with Dorna Sports about a contract extension. In the new deal, Catalunya will host MotoGP until summer 2016. 

"Dorna Sports and the Circuit de Catalunya has agreed a new contract that will guarantee premium carpet Gran de Catalunya in the MotoGP championship calendar for the next five years, 2012-2016," the announcement quoted from the official MotoGP website on Wednesday (22 / 6 / 2011)


Agreement was signed by Carmelo Ezpeleta and Dorna Sports CEO as Salvador Servia, director general of the Circuit de Catalunya.
 

Ezpeleta said he was happy with this contract extension. "This circuit provides modern facilities and have 20 years present with high discipline in motor racing. This circuit has played host to a non-stop schedule of racing since Dorna organizing the world championships," he said.
 

"This circuit provides a team of highly professional and has won numerous awards for its performance." 

This circuit held a MotoGP race since 1992 as the European MotoGP until 1994. Then after it became MotoGP Catalunya.
 

The average audience attendance at the day of the race in Catalunya (Sunday) is 81,838 people. While overall in the series for three days (Saturday's / Sunday d) circuit is able to attract 146,718 spectators.
 

"It is encouraging to accept an agreement that allows the annual races held here which continues to provide economic effect of 30 million euros for the area around the circuit," said Servia.
