Franz Beckenbauer may have earned the nickname "Der Kaizer", the emperor, but the King of Germany today is Dirk Nowitzki.
German mass media enthusiastically welcomed the success of Nowitzki, the German-born player to lead the Dallas Mavericks win the NBA championship cinin by beating the Miami Heat in the final.
Nowitzki became the first German player who won the NBA title is regarded as the supreme rule of the basketball world.
