Portuguese soccer legend Eusebio, fell ill. He was exposed to pneumonia and was rushed to hospital. He was diagnosed with pneumonia. He was taken to hospital on Monday (19/12/2011).
"Eusebio admitted to hospital 48 hours ago due to suffering from symptoms of a serious respiratory infection. From the X-ray examination showed, he got pneumonia and he was placed under surveillance in an intensive care unit. He is stable, conscious, and with a good joke," said Jose Roquette , director of the hospital.
Eusebio, nicknamed "Black Panther" is a big star in the 1960's. He never won the Ballon d'Or in 1965 and inspired Portugal to reach third place in the 1966 World Cup.
In his professional career, he strengthens Benfica. He was contracted at the age of 19 years by Benfica. With Eusebio, Benfica won the Champions Cup 1962. Eusebio strengthen the Portugal national team in 64 matches and scored 41 goals.
