Japan Bicycle Tour Championship was canceled following the 2011 earthquake and tsunami that ravage the area north of the country. Similarly, organizers said Wednesday.
The disaster occurred on March 11 that damaged electrical facilities, including nuclear power, which led to rolling blackouts in various regions.
Championship bicycle that the 15 was originally scheduled to be held in seven stages, including Tokyo, starting May 15.
It would be difficult to secure the necessary equipment and traffic control for the championship because of a power cut which also disrupt public transportation, said the organizers added.
