McLaren duo Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, pessimistic about their chances in Formula 1 (F1) 2011. But the Ferrari driver, Fernando Alonso, just had another thought. According to him, too early to exclude McLaren from the hunt for the world title this season.
Indeed, McLaren MP4-26 has not been able to compete with the two favorite teams, Red Bull Racing and Ferrari, in pre-season test. The issue of reliability is still a constraint, so the team based in Woking are difficulties.
No wonder if Hamilton and Button not too confident to face this new season. They seem to let go, and do not brag as in previous seasons.
Nonetheless, Alonso is confident McLaren will even look good when the competition later. The Spanish rider is feeling, the former team can find the best performance.
"They're better than that seen," said Alonso told El Pais. "Exercise winter does not give a clear picture. Maybe they too expected more, judging from what they say.
"Maybe they are in the best level and they hope to be far ahead. We'll see when it arrived in Australia. McLaren will not fight to be ranked 10. They will be close to the podium."
Alonso also spoke again what he had said earlier this year about Michael Schumacher. According to former world champion in 2005 and 2006, Schumacher - Schumacher calls - a rider to watch out for the season 2011.
Although his comments at that time considered as a belief that Schumacher became a favorite, but Alonso explains, former seven-time F1 world champion has the best chance for competitive and take advantage.
